Spring weather greeted record-breaking 108 carnival groups which presented themselves in 52. International Carnival parade in Ptuj. In the groups were more than 4500 individuals; among them were more than 600 kurents, which represent the most characteristic traditional ethnographical figure of Ptuj. More than 60.000 spectators saw carnival groups from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany, Macedonia, Hungary and Slovakia. This year’s Kurentovanje festival is part of European Capital of Culture project Maribor 2012, by which Ptuj is a partner city.
