New wine queen of Ptuj and the carnival prince – both will be crowned during the Martinovo (st. Martin's day) festivities on the following weekend. The two events share an important role in the history and heritage of Ptuj and are symbolically linked with this crowning weekend – the prince of the last years carnival will pass it's crown to the successor on Friday and past wine queen will do the same on Saturday.

During the press conference Kurentovanje 2012 organizing team also presented a program for 2012 festival consisting of more than 150 events grouped in three main topics - EtnoFest, ArtFest and KarnevalFest. Organizers are expecting more than 20.000 performers and over 200.000 visitors this year. Kurentovanje will also play an important part in the Cultural capital of Europe 2012 program as its biggest separate event.
